If your standard instrument panel design
does not provide for the tachometer, it is easy to correct this
deficiency. To build a strong and beautiful body for the LED tachometer, you'll need a little perseverance, some simple tools and
simple materials at hand.
You will need
- Tachometer suitable model
- Can a suitable diameter
- Metal scissors
- Epoxy adhesive
- Foam
- Fiberglass
- Paint
- Sandpaper
- Office or any other sharp knife
- Awl or chisel
- Putty
- Sided adhesive tape car
- Household hair dryer
- A small rubber spatula
Make a blank body. To do this, you will need to insert a
tachometer in the appropriate size tin, then smooth and neat scissors to cut
metal sheet surplus. Try to obtain a clean cut, free of nicks and burrs,
otherwise then you will either have to spend a lot of time and effort on the
grinding edge details or to make a new piece. BTW, you can select the
tachometer at Banggood. Besides, you can easily get other electrical
accessories (e.g. fluorescent clock) there with high quality and reasonable prices.
Fill the bottom of the cans with foam. This
will adjust the "fit" of your tachometer in the case and
further strengthen the part. In addition, apply a layer of foam on the
external part of the body to the place where the tachometer will presumably be
fixed to the dashboard. Shape the future housing. Once you have given the
mounting foam to dry (best to let this process for twenty-four hours), cut off
the excess foam with a knife. Inside, you should have enough space to fit
a tachometer. Outside, the foam should be cut off, forming a
"leg", which we will later be glued to the dashboard. Do not
forget to make a hole for the wire tachometer. The most difficult
thing is behind. We proceed to the finishing. Use sandpaper to smooth out
irregularities and roughness on the surface of the foam, as well as remove a
layer of gloss paint from a can.
Attach the housing blank. To glue is
completely dry, the workpiece should be kept in a well-ventilated room for
twenty-four hours. Cover the part with one or two layers of paint in the color
of your dashboard. If necessary, after the complete drying (see the
instructions in the manufacturer of paint) cover the item with one or two
layers of lacquer. Install the tachometer. Place the tachometer in the
finished housing, output wires through the hole that you left for them, and
connect.
